Trans people are living examples of the resurrection. Bisexual people are living examples of the resurrection. Gay and lesbian people are living examples of the resurrection. My brothers and sisters recovered from addiction and alcoholism are living examples of the resurrection. Whenever we humble ourselves to admit we are wrong, and rise again with new behaviours and action, we too are the living examples of the resurrection.
Until all churches come together to honor the unique individual relationships within each of us to our Creator, and respect that each journey is specific and unique, we are dead. Resurrection cannot be performative- it is as deep as the soul and as wide as the spirit that encompasses all of us.
It’s the pride flag on the doors, its the hello take up a seat, its the welcome to our worship space, its the rainbows on the walls and in our hearts- that we have the privilege of living on Earth.
The privilege of making mistakes and learning from them. The privilege of not being condemned to hell because God came as man to remove the power of evil, and he did this by showing that we can do our worst to another but theres no point to this treatment.
The redeemer rose three days later, unscathed and fulfilled in pure love. And so shall we.
